PHOTOMETRY LAB
Photometry lab at ICAT has the state-of-the-art infrastructure to cater to the requirements of both Automotive and non-automotive lighting components. The lab is equipped with latest facilities capable of testing high end products like intelligent lighting systems, PWM based LED luminaries, lights with high flashing rates, Special purpose warning lamps, Aviation lights (Taxi way, Edge lamps, Approach lights, Centre line lamps), Street Lights, Flood Lights, Indoor lights, medical lights etc. The photometry lab at ICAT is accredited as per ISO 17025 by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and BIS accredited for Street lights, flood lights, fixed general purpose luminaries, hand lamp, down lighter. We also support with E-Marking approval, BIS, the lab is also active member of AISC, TED, ETD 23 and 49.
Major Technical capabilities
- Measurement of spatial intensity distribution of the lamps, which include lighting and light signaling devices.
- High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) testing
- Lighting installation- and headlamp leveling device test.
- Retro-reflection measurement of reflex reflectors, tapes, markings etc.
- Measurement of luminous flux, luminous efficiency, life time and dimensional measurement of bulbs (incandescent, metal halide, HID, LED etc.)
- Luminance measurements of rear registration plate lamps, surfaces (roads, screens, etc.)
- Measurement of reflectivity and transmittance of different materials
- Tests on lamp under controlled conditions (voltage, temperature, humidity)
- Colorimetric measurements on lamps, lamp covers and various industrial products (plastics, textiles, etc.)
- Measurement of Spectral Intensity distribution and light out put
- Kuv and Kred measurement of LED source
- Artificial weathering conditions for exterior and Interior components
- Measurement of Polar curves, Bird eye view diagram and road profile etc
- Measurement of Airfield lights like Taxi way, Edge lamps, Approach lights, Centre line lamps as per ICAO
- Measurement of Road safety products like (Road pave marker, Delineators, Solar studs, Flexible median marker and Retro reflective sheeting’s as per ASTM D4956 and IRC67, 69 and 79
