NVH lab at ICAT would be one of the unique facility in India for research and development of vehicles and components. The Centre of Excellence would offer services in the field of –

  • Vehicle interior and exterior noise analysis
  • Squeak & rattle analysis
  • Sound transmission Loss, Sound Absorption Coefficient
  • Modal Testing on components, sub-assemblies and vehicles

PCVSAC (PASSENGER CAR VEHICLE SEMI ANECHOIC CHAMBER)

Specifications:

  • Internal useful dimensions: 30m x 20m x 7 m.
  • 4WD chassis dynamometer
  • Cut-off frequency : 40 Hz (ISO 3745) in one-third octave band
  • Background noise : ≤ 20 dB(A) with all equipment OFF
  • 48 ± 3 dB(A) at 100km/hr dynamometer speed
  • Maximum speed: 200 Km/Hr.
  • Optimal Inertia Range :150 Kg-3500 Kg
  • Maximum weight per axle : 2500 Kg.
  • Purpose:

  • Indoor Pass-By Noise evaluation on running vehicle (source identification)
  • Indoor In-cabin NVH Performance – Analysis & Source Identification
  • Transfer Path Analysis on a running vehicle


HDVSAC (HEAVY DUTY VEHICLE SEMI ANECHOIC CHAMBER)

  • Internal useful dimensions: 16m x 12m x 5 m.

  • Noise Source Identification on running vehicle
  • Transfer Path Analysis on a running vehicle
  • Indoor In-cabin NVH Performance – Analysis & Source identification


QUIET ROOM

Specifications:

  • Internal useful dimensions : 17m x 8m x 5m
  • Background noise ≤ 30 dBA
  • Cut-off frequency : 125 HZ in one-third octave band
  • Purpose:

  • To perform FRF measurements (acoustic and vibration) on system or complete vehicle under free-free condition
  • For development of components, sub-assemblies, assemblies and complete vehicles for NVH performance, analysis and optimization
  • For correlation between prototype and CAE results


COUPLED ACOUSTIC ROOMS

Specifications:

  • Two Reverberant (Transmitting) rooms (horizontal & vertical)
  • One semi anechoic (receiving) room of internal useful dimensions: 8m x 6m x 4m.
  • Cut-off frequency of anechoic chamber: 125Hz in one-third octave band
  • Background noise: ≤ 25dB(A)
  • Purpose:

  • Measurement of Sound Transmission, Insertion Losses & Sound Absorption Coefficient of Acoustic Materials
  • To evaluate the structure and air borne noise
  • Transfer Path Analysis on a running vehicle


LISTENING ROOM

Specifications:

  • Internal useful dimensions: 6m x 6m x 3.5m high.
  • Background noise : <35dB(A).
  • Purpose:

  • Benchmarking and evaluation of noise targets for components, sub-assemblies and vehicles
  • Just test sessions.
